Today, let us learn about themand the preparation stories behind Line 19.Zheng Xiaoliang, who joined Chengdu Metro right after graduating from university, has participated in the construction of five Chengdu Rail Transit lines. Full of enthusiasm, he also took an in-depth part in the entire construction process of Line 19

For Zheng Xiaoliang, who has years of experience in construction projects, civil engineering management comes naturally. However, the Phase II Civil Air Defense Project of Line 19—characterized by its larger scale, broader scope, higher precision requirements, and greater technical complexity—has placed significant pressure on him.

This is related to the construction characteristics of Line 19. The second phase of Line 19 represents the line with the largest shield tunneling cross-section in Chengdu's rail transit history to date. The entire route is divided into multiple protective units based on stations and sections, including section tunnels equipped with the largest sealed protective partition doors ever installed in Chengdu's rail transit system—each door measures an average height of 6.2 meters, width of 6.5 meters, and weighs approximately 11.5 tons, posing significant construction challenges and high risks.

Standing beneath this massive civil air defense facility, he felt utterly insignificant. Yet when confronted with challenges, he never backed down. Addressing the numerous civil air defense systems and inconsistent construction schedules along Phase II of Line 19, Zheng Xiaoliang proactively coordinated with relevant acceptance requirements and procedures. Through repeated meetings and iterative adjustments, he actively organized all participating units to inspect and rectify equipment, while overseeing the integrated planning of civil air defense design, construction, and on-site installation. His efforts continuously strengthened the "shield protecting citizens" for Line 19, ensuring that all stakeholders completed the Phase II civil air defense project with high quality and efficiency.

Most beautiful things in the world come from mutual dedication. Zheng Xiaoliang stated, "As the caretaker of the construction site, we have accompanied Line 19 through every construction milestone and watched over its development. On a personal level, I have gained experience while learning, which has greatly improved my expertise and capabilities. For the team, overcoming numerous challenges together has forged stronger cohesion among us. For the rail transit sector, our metro serves the people, and we have responded more powerfully to the voices of citizens and passengers."
