No empty boasts—this metro project truly deserves promotion! The trains for Phase 3 of Line 10 have arrived at the designated depot.

Recently, the electric trains for Phase III of Chengdu Metro Line 10 have successfully arrived at the unloading platform of Banqiao Depot, completed their unloading, and smoothly entered the major overhaul facility. This marks that all Phase III trains have been unloaded at the depot, and preparations have now entered the debugging phase.

The Phase III Project of Chengdu Metro Line 10 starts from People's Park Station and ends at Taipingyuan Station (exclusive). The total length of the line is approximately 5.87 kilometers, with 5 underground stations in full.

Up to now, the main structures of 3 stations of the Phase III Project of Line 10 have been capped, and the main structure construction of the other 2 stations is underway. The cumulative shield tunneling length reaches 7.28 kilometers, accounting for 89.2% of the total planned tunneling volume.

Step 1: Run with your back to the direction of movement

Before leaving the factory, electric train cars must be disassembled. Each car is then lifted onto flatbed trucks using cranes and transported by these trucks to the designated routes for unloading.

Step 2: Hang and release

Next, the unloading operation is carried out by specialized operators. They must accurately position the flatbed truck carrying the subway carriages at the designated location, operate two cranes to raise the carriages to a specified height while ensuring they remain parallel to the tracks, and then place them directly onto the tracks. The entire process demands exceptional skill from the operators, requiring precise operation and control to ensure the carriages are positioned both stably and accurately.

Step 3: Push it forward

The safely unloaded electric multiple units (EMUs) will be "pushed" into the depot. After confirming that safety measures such as wheel stoppers on site are fully in place, staff manually push each EMU carriage one by one into the depot for docking and assembly at a speed below 3 kilometers per hour.

During this process, approximately six strong workers are required to push a single EMU carriage together, while safety officers direct operations on site to ensure all procedures are carried out within safe and controllable parameters. Once inside the depot, vehicle maintenance personnel will marshal and commission the EMUs. Subsequently, they will complete inspections covering thousands of items across ten major systems, including doors, braking, air conditioning, traction and auxiliary power supply. The vehicles will also undergo type tests and no-load trial runs on main lines. After repeated trials and verifications, the EMUs will be officially put into operation in optimal condition to serve passengers from the public.
