The Ziyang Line of Chengdu Rail Transit and Chengdu-Meishan Line S5 have made new progress!
On March 17, an electric passenger train smoothly passed the last turnout of the Ziyang Line of Chengdu Rail Transit, marking the successful completion of the overhead contact system hot-sliding test of the line and laying a solid foundation for the full-line opening and operation in the follow-up stage.
As Sichuan Province's first cross-city rail transit line, the Ziyang Line stretches about 39 kilometers. It is constructed by Chengdu Rail Transit Group with China Railway Construction Electrification Bureau Group participating in the construction. Being the first rapid rail transit line linking Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, Tianfu International Airport New City and Ziyang City, it starts at Futian Station of Chengdu Rail Transit Line 18 for transfer and connects to the urban area of Ziyang. One airport-adjacent vehicle depot and five new stations are built along the line.
Upon completion, this railway line will serve as a vital economic corridor, a key industrial collaboration zone, and a major rail-air transport hub connecting Chengdu and Ziyang, ushering the integration of the two cities into an era of "rail-based urban integration."
The Chengdu-Meishan S5 Line begins at Honglian Station in Chengdu and ends at Meishan East Station in Meishan City, passing through the Headquarters Business District, Cultural and Creative City Area, Shigao Area, Heilongtan Area of Sichuan Tianfu New Area, Mindong New District of Meishan City, and Dongpo District of Meishan City. With a total length of 59.14 km, the line comprises 13 stations across 14 sections, including 5 underground stations and 8 elevated stations, operating with Type A regional trains configured in four-car formations capable of reaching a maximum speed of 160 km/h. The launch ceremony for the first shield machine of the Chengdu-Meishan S5 Line project was held in Meishan, marking the official commencement of shield construction for this urban rail transit line.
